LITTLE LEAGUE® LAYS OUT 2018 BAT STANDARDS

With new bat standards for baseball set to take effect in 2018, Little League has updated its Bat Information Page

Little League® International has assembled an online resource page dedicated to baseball bat information, that includes the latest bat information, current Little League Baseball rules and regulations governing bats, definition of terms, the moratorium on the use of composite bats, and a series of frequently asked questions, with answers and licensed bat lists.

Please, note that as of January 1, 2018, the new USA Baseball Bat Standard will be implemented. Little League-approved baseball bats that are approved for use for the 2017 season will no longer be acceptable for use in the Tee Ball, Rookie, Minor & Major Divisions starting on January 1, 2018.  In the Junior Division all bats will be required to have the USA Baseball logo or the BBCOR marking.

Beginning with the 2018 season, non-wood and laminated bats used in Tee Ball, Rookie, Minors & Majors Divisions must bear the USA Baseball logo (shown above) signifying that the bat meets the USA Baseball Performance Standard. All BPF - 1.15 bats will be prohibited beginning with the 2018 season

Again, all bats used in the Junior Division will be required to have the USA Baseball logo or the BBCOR marking.

Additionally, starting in 2018, the bat diameter shall not exceed 2 5/8 inches for those divisions of play.

Bat Information

Little League International is changing the standards for bats. Essentially all bats that are legal now will not be legal in 2018 with the exception of BBCOR bats in the Junior Division. This was done in accordance with a change by USA Baseball.

Effective January 1, 2018, Little League Baseball® will adhere to the new USABat standard.
